MILK was founded on the belief that motherhood deserves intentional, high-quality support—both at home and within the community. Started by LaVerne “Lavi” Reid, MILK Maternity blends individualized perinatal care with maternal health education and community-based support. Our team of doulas and educators is committed to providing thoughtful, compassionate care that honors the depth of this transition and supports families at every stage.

LAVI RE'

Postpartum Doula & Certified Holistic Health Coach

LaVerne, affectionately known as Lavi, is a maternal health professional, full-spectrum doula, and newborn care specialist with over 14 years of experience supporting families in the home and in community settings. She began her career with a respected pregnancy and birth agency in the Houston area, where she supported dozens of families through pregnancy, postpartum, and early newborn care.

Driven by a passion for improving maternal health outcomes, Lavi expanded her work beyond individual support to focus on education, prevention, and community-based care. She trained as a holistic health coach and integrates physical, mental, and spiritual well-being into her work, with an emphasis on sustainable lifestyle practices that support women throughout the perinatal period.

Lavi holds a BA in Communication and is currently a Master of Public Health student specializing in Vegetarian Nutrition and Wellness. Her work centers on helping women strengthen their health, reduce risk factors for pregnancy complications, and regain confidence through nourishment, rest, education, and community support. She has designed meal plans, group programs, health challenges, retreats, and educational classes focused on addressing lifestyle-related health concerns.

Through MILK Maternity, Lavi provides traditional doula services alongside maternal health education, healing nutrition, and community programming, while also partnering with churches, organizations, and leaders to expand access to maternal support beyond the home.

SHARON HARLAN

Marketing & Office Manager

Sharon is a photographer and freelance videographer whose work is focused on promoting nonprofit organizations and capturing beautiful milestones of life. She has a knack for social media and a creative spirit. As a mom of 2, she understands the ups and downs of home life and loves sharing tips, tricks and activities she does with her little ones.

She grew up surfing on the Oregon coast and now resides in southwest Washington, where she takes any opportunity to enjoy nature and go on an outdoor adventure.

She spends most of her time homeschooling, keeping up with her 2 daughters, and figuring out healthy, kid-approved recipes.

She is passionate about health and nutrition, understanding truth, and connecting with people. She hopes to someday summit every major mountain in the Cascades and travel the world.

DR. SHARIFA GLASS, MD, IBCLC

Pediatrician and Lactation consultant

Dr. Sharifa Glass is a pediatrician, lactation consultant, media expert, and corporate consultant. She studied at University of Houston where she graduated with High Honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Her educational journey took her to Drexel University College of Medicine where she received her medical degree (M.D.) before she returned back to the Houston area. She completed a pediatric residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Since finishing residency, Dr. Glass has worked in general pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, and pediatric urgent care medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

Dr. Glass is a wife and mother to two young children. Both children were breastfed thanks to the support of her family and the children’s pediatrician. As a result of her breastfeeding journey, she was inspired to start this medical practice to support all mothers in reaching their breastfeeding goals. Whatever your feeding preference may be (breastfeeding, expressed breast milk, or formula), you'll find personalized experience for your child’s healthcare with Dr. Glass. She is our in-house IBCLC Lactation Consultant and the owner of The Vine Pediatrics, where she makes pediatric house-calls.
